In this 2 hour workshop we will be looking at what it takes to go upside down in a safe & methodical way. We will start with exercises to warm up and activate the core, shoulders, glutes, hamstrings and wrists. We’ll then prepare for our headstand, with or without the wall!
Norie will share tips & different ways of how you can start to take off. If you can already stand on your head, we'll play with leg variations and ways to come up from other yoga poses. This is a FUN session, which will let you try things that you won't normally have time for in a normal one hour yoga class. You can also take as many breaks as you need! To those who’d like to take it further, we’ll also look at forearm stand (pincha mayurasana) and handstands. We will finish the session with a short Yin practice to stretch and release any muscle tension.
It’s not guaranteed that you’ll be able to take flight in this session if you're a complete beginner, but you’ll hopefully come away with more understanding and body awareness.
YOUR INSTRUCTOR: I’m Norie Jones - I started yoga aged 46 to help alleviate my chronic lower back pain. I wasn’t a dancer or a gymnast! I started doing my inversions aged 49 and it took me a few years to lift both of my feet off the ground in my headstand. Now at a tender age of 55 :) I’m still learning something new every day and would love for you to join me on this journey. Apart from so many amazing physical benefits of going upside down, it’s also so much FUN!
